A Puzzling Display: Statement

A Puzzling Display

Interactive Web site, 12 Archival Inkjet Prints, 21 Digital Photographs, 13 Single Channel Videos, 2012

Much of my practice revolves around the notion of games, from my iPhone application to my interactive "Singing Garden" piece. In addition, my recent work has involved both an online and "real-world" component. I seek to continue this practice for my May 2012 show at the New Art Center in New York City.

In our new century, gaming and game-related paradigms are steadily integrating themselves into contemporary existence. "A Puzzling Display," continues my exploration of the techniques and theories of gaming and play in the context of Contemporary Art.

With an aim of blurring the distinction between fine art and diversion, this virtual-relational artwork incorporates interactivity, video, sound art, computer animation and a broad knowledge of art and culture to take a fresh new look at the world of Art.

As a response to the long and formidable history of Art, "A Puzzling Display" seeks to leverage history's heavy weight to an advantage, creating an innovative way of examining the tradition in the process.
